What is ACCESS?
ACCESS is the premier inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) program in the region. Students with intellectual disabilities are provided an opportunity to learn career and employment skills, independent living and socialization skills, and participate in academic opportunities at Mississippi State. The employment rate of ACCESS graduates is better than twice the national average for adults with intellectual disabilities. However, the cost of the program prevents some families from pursuing this path. All money raised will be used to provide financial scholarships to students with financial need.
Why Your Gift Matters!
ACCESS should be available for all families, but cost prevents those without adequate funding from pursuing this option. We have proven that ACCESS alumni experience success in employment and improved independent living skills. Our approach to getting people involved will include messaging with all current and past families of ACCESS, current college coaches and peer mentors, encouraging staff to share broadly through their social media networks, and messaging on campus. Our prior fundraising through the foundation in this manner raised just under 10,000 and we utilized these strategies.
